In America itself, the number of men with prostate cancer increases each year, for instance, every ten thousand men in the country there are 156 of them suffer from this illness. The treatment of prostate cancer has gotten serious attention from many experts and for this reason many researches have been conducted.
One of interesting facts emerged is through a conclusion that supplements have been proved to be not effective in preventing prostate cancer. Three-year consumption of vitamin E, soy and selenium doesn’t reduce the risk of men – with a higher risk of developing the cancer - to develop the disease. Meanwhile, as quoted from Reuters Health report, even men who are not in an increasing risk of prostate cancer don’t show significant changes after consuming vitamin E or selenium supplementation.
Based on previous survey, it is claimed there was a decreased risk of developing prostate cancer on people who consume vitamin E, soy or selenium. They included into their daily diets as well as consume them in supplements. The study also found effective on animals.
The experiment made use of 40 gram of soy, 800 U of vitamin E, and 0,2 gram of selenium. On the contrary, the same combination was used on a different study and with the exactly same combination, unfortunately it did not give a happy fact because men with signs of pre-cancerous cells still had chance to develop prostate cancer even after three years.
You may already know that people in China and Japan consume soy in a very large amount every day and it is believed that the rates of prostate cancer in those two countries are really lower than in US or Canada. The idea of soy consumption triggered many researchers to try on a study, but it is obviously not help preventing prostate cancer.
